The PICPA-Cebu Membership Meeting for this month will be on October 30, 2008 (Thursday), 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Center, Cebu City. The guest speaker is Dr. Jane C. Galang, a cardiologist; Father John Orat of St. Therese Parish and Mr. Lamberto Ortilla , a herbalist to share to us their points of view of Healthy Lifestyle from spiritual side to medical side.
It is high time for us professional accountants to be concern not only of the financial reports, work to be done. As the saying goes, “Health is Wealth”. Let’s not waste our life searching for Wealth and sacrifice our Health. And regret later that we are spending our Wealth to recover our Health. On this occasion, the Chapter will also give updates to the general membership about what transpired during the past months and the plans and programs for the succeeding months, especially the forthcoming national convention in Davao this coming November.
A minimal fee of P 250.00 will be assessed to cover the cost of snacks and other incidental expenses. Pre-registration is needed for proper accommodation arrangements. Deadline is set on October 28, 2008. Non-PICPA members are also welcome to attend. TAX SEMINAR

The PICPA Cebu Chapter will sponsor a half-day Tax Updates Seminar on October 22, 2008 (Wednesday), 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Center, Cebu City.
Topics for discussion will include the following new BIR issuances:
RR 10-2008: final implementing regulations of RA 9504 (Exemption from income tax of minimum wage earners and increase in personal and additional exemptions)
RR 11-2008: Consolidated revenue regulations on taxpayers primary registration, updates and cancellation.
Our resource speakers are Mr. Ipher Q. Tabanag, CPA Group Supervisor, BIR Mandaue; and Atty. Neri Yu Asst. Chief, Legal Division, BIR Revenue Region 13 Cebu.
To cover the cost of materials, snacks, venue and other incidental expenses, a minimal fee is assessed at P 500 for members in good standing and P 600 for other attendees. Due to limited seats, a Pre registration with Payment is needed for this seminar. Deadline is set on October 18, 2008 A.M. (Saturday).

2008 PICPA Run N Gun Basketball Tournament on Nov. 8, 2008
To all Cebu PICPAns!
To continue our program of bringing members closer through sports, the Committee on Sports will hold a basketball tournament dubbed as the 2008 PICPA Run N Gun Basketball Tournament.
The tournament, which will be composed of eight (8) teams wearing separate team colors, and is tentatively slated to start on November 8, 2008 (9:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon) at the City Sports Center, Cebu City.
General mechanics of the tournament are as follows:
1.A team must be composed of twelve (12) players who must be of good standing PICPA members upon deadline of submission of line-up. Teams with members who are not good standing PICPA members are not allowed to play in the game, if able to play his team is automatically forfeited from the game he was able to play.
2.Each team will play in a single round robin elimination, with the top four (4) teams advancing to the crossover semi-finals. Winners of the crossover semis will advance to the best-of-three championship game with the losers playing for a one-game 3rd place match.
3.Joining fee to cover the court rental fees and referees fees is only FIVE HUNDRED PESOS (P 500) per player.
4.Prizes will be given to the Champion and Runner-ups.
5.Deadline for submission of your team’s official line-up is October 24, 2008. Check payments should be payable to PICPA-Cebu Chapter.

CPE on the Road Part 3
The PICPA Eastern Visayas Region and the PICPA Cebu Chapter is scheduling the Part 3 of the CPE on the Road (EVR Version) on October 8 to 10, 2008 (Wednesday. to Friday) at Sacred Heart Center, D. Jakosalem St., Cebu City. Participants-Practitioners will earn 22.50 cpe units for the 3 days (3.75 units for Relevant Laws, 12.50 units for PFRS, and 6.25 units for PSA). Sessions start at 8:30 am and ends at 5:00 pm. As the Chapter has already automated the capture and recording of Members’ attendance in seminars and other meetings qualifying for CPE credit units, you are advised to be at the venue on time to avail of full CPE credit units.

CPE on the Road
PICPA Eastern Visayas Region and PICPA Cebu Chapter will again deliver the CPE on the Road (EVR Version) on July 31 to August 2, 2008 at Sacred Heart Center, D. Jakosalem St. Cebu City. The aim is to provide practitioners the opportunity to earn the units required for the renewal of their PRC/BOA accreditation.
Participants will earn 22.5 cpe units for the 3 days. 4 units for the Professional Ethics; 11 units for the PSA and 7.5 units for PFRSs. The participation fee is only P1,000.00 per day to cover the meals and venue.
